The Camaro Nationals offers lots to do in addition to showing your car or having it judged. We have a cruise on Thursday evening before the show starts on Friday, a banquet and charity auction on Friday, and of course the awards on Saturday. In between, there are Classic Headquarters and Wheel Craft exhibit halls – full of Camaros to check out, in addition to the show field in front of the Classic Auto Mall. Then there is the Classic Auto Mall itself. Several hours could easily be spent checking out the over 400 barn finds, plus the hundreds of consignment cars…..classics, antiques, rods, & muscle cars.
Plan on arriving Thursday afternoon if you want to participate in the Kick-Off Cruise. Members of the LVCC put together a course from the show field through the country side, past Amish farms, and stopping at the Shady Maple for an optional dinner. Shady Maple is a world famous Pennsylvania Dutch Smorgasbord able to seat hundreds of diners, and everything is made from scratch. Thursday is typically steak and shrimp night…..and we won’t mention the desserts. There are also many smaller quaint establishments if you prefer to go out on your own.
Afterward, if you want to relax, there are nightly Parking Lot Parties at the host hotel. We meet in the side parking lot just off the show field.
Friday evening brings our Classic Headquarters Annual Dinner. This is a great way to meet your fellow Camaroists, and renew old friendships. It is a relaxed atmosphere, so even if you are a first time attendee, you are sure to relax and have some fun. Classic Headquarters sponsors the dinner, to keep the price reasonable.
Following the Dinner, we hold our Charity Auction. This is the 21st year for the auction, and I again want to thank our great sponsors for their generous support. Sets of Tires, Sets of Wheels, interior kits, carpet, engine components, tee shirts, die casts, cleaners and waxes, Camaro art, banners, graphics and posters – you name it. You can’t win it if you don’t bid on it!
The Famous Maple Grove Raceway – the area’s NHRA track – is only around 10 miles from the Classic Auto Mall. We try to arrange a special parking area at the Friday Night Test & Tune for those more interested in smelling race fuel and rubber, than the smell of
