BOW TIE and BOW TIE w/ Legends Check (1000 Point Judged)
Bow Tie
The Bow Tie classes are intended for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen Camaros that have been restored to factory original (aka “stock”) form and are evaluated against the condition they would have been in when they departed the Norwood or Van Nuys plants for the year, model, and options they have. Dealer-installed add-on options or aftermarket parts are not acceptable and will incur points deductions. Basic numbers and tags will be checked to confirm that features, options, and colors are correct for the Camaro being judged. Engine block must be matching numbers to achieve maximum points. Judges check for bias ply tires, spiral shocks, correct battery, alternator, distributor, exhaust manifolds, etc. Parts may be OEM (restored to like new condition), NOS, or high-quality reproduction parts that are technically accurate when compared to original OEM. More weight is given to original parts, but they must be in excellent condition (like they were when leaving the factory). All numbers (especially in the engine bay) must be visible to the judges and not covered by dirt, rust, heavy coated paint, etc. Overall cleanliness of the car and its presentation must be on the level of an indoor concours competition.
Please note that although the regular Bow Tie classes go into quite a bit of detail, the level of scrutiny and difficulty is not on par with the Legends classes. Judging time is approximately 30 minutes per car in Bow Tie, compared to 3 hours in Legends. Camaros in this class compete against a judging sheet on a 1000-point system. Like Legends, Bow Tie is designed to be a one to three year system, with the goal of achieving a Gold award. Awards are tiered from Bronze to Gold and the progressive judging platform allows the vehicle to return for a score improvement over three successive years within a 5 year period. Camaros that have achieved the Gold award are considered ‘Heritage’ Camaros, and will be invited to return in subsequent years to be displayed indoors in the ‘Heritage display-only’ class.
If the Camaro owner has the desire eventually be promoted to the 5000-point Legends class, they will need to be entered in the Bow Tie with Legends Check (see below for details), which is a more stringent version of the class, which checks additional items of importance, in order to determine whether the car will be able to make the jump to the Legends class the following year.
Scores of 850 to 899 will receive a “Bronze” award
Scores of 900 to 949 will receive a “Silver” award
Scores of 950 to 1000 will receive a “Gold” award

Bow Tie with Legends Check
Camaros that wish to be considered for potentially moving into the Legends 5000-point class must first be judged in the Bow Tie with Legends Check class and receive a minimum of 975 points in this enhanced version of Bow Tie. Camaros in the “Legends Check” class undergo much more scrutiny and have stricter guidelines to meet than the regular Bow Tie class. There is a higher registration fee to enter the Bow Tie with Legends Check class, due to the additional judging time involved. We do not currently have a Legends class for 3rd generation Camaros.
